Yes, the giant hyena approaches lion size - 108 kg. And it was more primitive than modern hyenas, so maybe 5 toes would have been what it had.

From what I read short faced hyena was mostly like modern hyena except more massive build and proportionally shorter legs. I can't seem to find how many digits did short hyena have.

Well, digits is just an assumption based on evolutionary position

I'm not sure what you mean assumption based on evolutionary position. Do you mean they don't actually have full skeleton of Giant hyena. Specifically her digits and their actual number?

Speaking of the Nandi Bear, this animal is said to ambush humans from trees and eat only the brains. Tree climbing isn't something hyenas can do.

In that case, Pachycrocuta seems to have walked on four digits on each foot. It's still a hyaenid very similar to the hyenas living today.

In my opinion Nandi bear is some kind of new species not yet discovered. I don't believe it to be an Atlas bear. Or any other actual bear. And I don't think its a hyena of any kind. I do believe it is an animal slightly different than most beast of Africa. With Mngwa for example we know it is some kind of cat. With chemisit we only know it is a large predatory animal. Capable of doing things most African predators are not capable of doing. like going through wall of thorns. Although i'm not sure if he simply walks right through it or digs beneath it. But it is an unusual predator that if real and like the description given to it- somewhat unique.

You actually didn't say "best" anywhere but in that last post, so you were correct the first time. But anyway, if you make an error in your post, you can edit it.
