Differentiating actual facts from "alternative" facts, reliable information from misinformation is becoming more important than ever. It is is also becoming ever more necessary to point this out to members to assure quality of the content posted here. Hence, I hope this thread can be a sort of guide to what doesn’t (and what by inference does) constitute quality source material and what are common misconceptions that we should all know to avoid.
Use this thread as a place where you can point out sources people should not be trusting, or if you just want to have a rant about false information presented somewhere/by someone, as long as it is something that happens consistently.
Don't post a carnivora post here because you happen to disagree with it, but if something is demonstrably wrong or at least based on insufficient evidence, but nonetheless widely accepted (e. g. a widespread myth, like "this T. rex toebone came from a 14.5m monstrosity and that’s a fact!!!!"), it might be appropriate for this thread. Same with sources. Obviously, "Nature" doesn't become a bad source because of the occasional problematic paper. But "prehistoric wildlife" is, because the content is of a generally poor scientific quality.

The thread itself isn't bad, but I would pick a different name (like "bad online sources").

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILoj6kAn3SgI posted this on carnivora and I post it here too. All the BAND stuff of course too would earn being mentioned (this includes the works of Ruben, Feduccia and all the other guys trying to disprove that birds are dinos).

www.davidpetersstudio.com/GIANTS-book.pdfit is incredible how someone can have such an artistic talent and only use it for publishing crap.... funny enough, in between all the wrong figures and other rubbish he states in his books, he did not oversize Liopleurodon, and may have actually undersized megalodon.

I am very sure that some people will get extremaly mad seeing this very undersized Spinosaurus.

And oversized T. rex. His Spinosaurus is not THAT far off if one considers it was more than a decade before MNSN v4047 was found. It's amusing now to read a book from that time, before all the other giants were known. How he used and interpreted what was available at the time...
That Spinosaurus had a funny snout shape!

The Gallimumus and Deinosuchus are terrible oversized. Also Mamenchisaurus seems to be very undersized, unless it was based on smaller species.

Instead of counting the wrong-sized animals, we should count the right one. This way should be faster. Seriously, I like such kind of books, but things like this giant Gallimimus or the elephant have to be obvious.
