Title explains all. I think their main defense would have been their shear bulk and strength and armor, and possibly their head spikes (if the one in particular had them). Any other opinions?

I think their immense bulk, combined with their armor, severely restricted the type of predator that could take them. When it came for them to fight, they could use their head spikes to attack.

^I agree. Google Scholar (as usual) gave very poor results for that question BTW.

I think the spikes on the lower jaw will be used Credit goes to DiBgdalong with possibly the spikes on the cheek flanges or whatever you like to call them, as well as the sides of the head. The keratin sheates would have greatly increased their size, strength, and sharpness. And I've even seen some reconstructions with a tiny nasal spike, though the closest thing I see to that on the actual skull are some small rugosities tbh, so I'm not too sure about that.

Rugosities could indicate keratinous covering, but what shape it was is entirely speculative. Based on their skull size and the free space on their snouts, it seems very unlikely they bore a large horn particularly useful for offense or defense, comparable to rhino horns, but a small one is conceivable.
Both the expanded zygomatics and the lower-jaw spikes could be used as weapons imo. Also they have bulky bodies and powerful legs, and could likely just overpower and trample smaller attackers, and their sturdy built and osteoderms would make them hard to fatally injure.

Unfortunately, Bunostegos didn't have the luxury of head spikes though.
But eh, it's still heavily built and strong.
