Not to do with animals, but the Joshua tree is in serious trouble. Based off of current distribution point data and historic climate records, it could be almost completely gone from Joshua Tree National Park by the end of the century if nothing is done. esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/ecs2.2763

Ungual phalanges analysis in Pleistocene ground sloths. Interestingly, the strength indicator value of Mylodon darwinii's claw (namely the digit III manual ungual) was far lower than expected for an animal of its size.
