This is truly mind-boggling. They elected that monster to presidency, even though he has almost 200 000 fewer votes than Clinton? It’s like they are begging for a desaster. I mean, the elected president not having been voted for by the highest number of people is like the PERFECT argument for considering the election void, I’ve known recent presidential elections that were overturned for far less serious reasons. That this is the law doesn’t change the fact that it’s undemocratic. I know that it isn’t the first time shit like this happens (although as bad as many republicans are, rarely are they psychopaths to match this one), but how the hell has this system not been abolished after the first time someone became president without actually having the highest number of voters?

With the American voting system, it has probably been known that results like this could occur since the establishment of said voting system. I doubt the Americans would like to change their system, there has to be a reason why they prefer it over a much simpler "Whoever gets most votes wins" election style.

This actually the 5th time someone has lost the popular vote but won the American presidency

I know that they know, doesn't change that it's stupid. How can a president claim to be elected by the people if most of the people actually voted for another person?

If he surrounds himself with good advisors, this won't be that bad. Yeah, i have at least some faith. He may or may not have messed up picking Bannon though, leaning torwards the former probably.

They will probably stop him from doing 90% of what he intends to do and in the end everyone will say he was a horrible president who lied and did nothing for his country.
