Evolution of herbivores throughout the early Mesozoic (really interesting paper on how jaw biomechanics between the different herbivore clades differed). Dinosaur dominance after the Carnian Pluvial Event was one part opportunism, the other part competitive advantages. www.nature.com/articles/s41467-021-23169-x

Pluridens serpentis is a new mosasaur with small orbits but plenty of neurovascular foramina on its snout. These suggest adaptations to detect prey in low-light conditions (i.e. night or deep, dark waters). Also seems to have gotten quite big with robust mandibles used for combat: www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0195667121001294Tracks reveal the earliest evidence for marine (brackish water) habitat use by mammals. The trackmakers were probably pantodonts: www.nature.com/articles/s41598-021-88412-3This belemnite shows evidence of preying on a crustacean. It, in turn, represents the prey of a predatory fish: sjpp.springeropen.com/articles/10.1186/s13358-021-00225-zThe azhdarchid Alanqa had spoke-like struts in its cervical vertebrae, which lightened it but also made it very strong. As little as 50 of these struts increased buckling load by 90%, allowing these pterosaurs to catch, lift, and process relatively heavy food items ( Alanqa weighed somewhere between ~16-37 kg, with its maximum prey size estimated at 9-13 kg): www.cell.com/iscience/fulltext/S2589-0042(21)00306-0
