If it’s not what they are made of then you can easily replicate their behaviour. Go outside, take a beanpole by one end and swing it against a watermelon (or pumpkin) with the other end. See whether the pole breaks.

See whether the pole breaks. are you being purposefully obstinate? or are you just unfamiliar with concepts like tensile strength and size effect?
