Wait, so Sue is LONGER than Scotty?

We really don't know yet for sure. The latest study on Scotty was not as detailed as most would like we have no vertebrae measurements we just know all of Scotty's weight bearing elements are larger than Sues so its highly likely that Scotty is heavier than Sue is here are all the measurements where Scotty is larger than Sue is docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xbuGjf_PaBcJNKJSu4sEixEqZzEc-wyvfrg1iTnCSno/edit#gid=0. Scotty could be a little shorter than Sue or it could be a little longer or they could be around the same length. We need more measerments really.

This is a news report (from University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, which the researchers are from) of an SVP abstract from this year. It pertains to teenage Tyrannosaurus bite force, and indentations on bone apparently suggest a bite force of just under 2,000 lbf (the SVP abstract itself provides estimates for two sets of bite marks, with 5000-6000 N – from indentations on Jane's crania – being the higher of those two).

Tyrannosaurus remains have been found in the "lower third of the Tornillo Group" (this being the Javelina Formation).

This formation dates to as early as ~69 Ma.

Dinosaur biostratigraphy, magnetostratigraphy and U-Pb dating have given a Lancian age (69 Ma to 66 Ma) for the Javelina Fm (Hunt and Lehman, 2008; Lehman and Busbey, 2007; Lehman et al., 2006). The base of the composite section from this work is roughly equivalent to the TMM 41361 site, which yielded a Torosaurus utahensis and is thought to be ~69 Ma. Sites TMM 41047, TMM 41398 and TMM41436 correlate approximately to the ~70 m level of the composite section (Fig. 5). Those sites yielded Lancian assemblages including Quetzacoaltus, Almausaurus sanjuanensis and Tyrannosaurus. The last white sandstone at the top of the Javelina Fm is potentially late Cretaceous in age because it has yielded Lancian assemblages in other exposures of the Tornillo Group (Pterodactyl Ridge, Dogie mountains and Dawson Creek sections) (Lehman and Busbey, 2007).

Apparently some scientists have been working to figure out how many T. rex existed at one time, how many generations there were, and the total number of T. rex that ever lived. Obviously, take it for what you will.

Absolute abundance and preservation rate of Tyrannosaurus rex

Although much can be deduced from fossils alone, estimating abundance and preservation rates of extinct species requires data from living species. Here, we use the relationship between population density and body mass among living species combined with our substantial knowledge of Tyrannosaurus rex to calculate population variables and preservation rates for postjuvenile T. rex. We estimate that its abundance at any one time was ~20,000 individuals, that it persisted for ~127,000 generations, and that the total number of T. rex that ever lived was ~2.5 billion individuals, with a fossil recovery rate of 1 per ~80 million individuals or 1 per 16,000 individuals where its fossils are most abundant. The uncertainties in these values span more than two orders of magnitude, largely because of the variance in the density–body mass relationship rather than variance in the paleobiological input variables.
