the size should not matter , plus alligators have no experince with any type of big cat 1: How does size not matter? 2: They do - Florida panthers if you mean cougars they are not nearly as strong as jaguars and alligators do not deal with cougars as often as jaguars deal with caimans , also size doesnt always matter as i have heard cases of small lions killing large polar bears and small leopards killing large tigers.

Different tactics need to be applied for different sized crocodilians 2: Please explain how that's relevant here. Bears and crocodilians are very different, and circus animals are often unhealthy

Kind of my point. The jaguar will not get immediately obliterated, and winning on land would not be easy for the gator, but it would win due to its large size

However, I still have yet to see an argument that converts me to the cat on land

Maybe they can change either one of our opinions

I hope you're all not forgetting that gators not just have a bone crushing bite, but a tail whip that can kill a person based on this gator wrangler's words:
"I remember one time I got whacked in the tail by a 10 footer, and it was the hardest I've ever gotten hit in my life. My whole vision just went super bright and instant pain, it took me a couple hours to recuperate from it. It's so strong, if they whack you or clocked you in the head just right, getting knocked out could happen, but they could cause more serious damage than that, possibly even kill you with just hitting you in the head. (Donny Aldarelli)"
People getting whipped and headbutted by a restrained alligator (1 person gets knocked out!): And that was only from a 10 footer! A 14 foot gator would be doing much more. Also, how does size not matter? If anything, that's why jaguars prey on caimans.
