Sivatherium, 1.2 tons Shaochilong, 500 kg Nile crocodile, 750 kg Gigantophis, 400 kg Kodiak bear, 312 kg Aucasaurus, 700 kg 8 Velociraptor, 25 kg each Megalania, 600 kg Equus giganteus, 1.25 tons Smilodon polulator, 290 kg The battle starts in an arena. The mad scientist open the enclosures by pressing a button and the animals entered the arena to attack each other. The smilodon populator jumped onto the back of the sivatherium and slashed at its throat killing it. The kodiak bear arrived and tried to usurp the sivatherium of its food. The kodiak bear and the smilodon populator enganged each other in a brawl. Although the smilodon's fangs can pierce bone and kill each other with skull bites, it is not easy to do so to another predator which is fighting rather than running. The kodiak bear with its stronger fore arms and better grappling skills was dominating the brawl. The smildon managed to stab the kodiak bear's shoulder but the latter struggled and broke the smilodon's canine. The kodiak bear pushed down the smilodon and bit its throat before breaking the saber tooth cat's neck by shaking its jaws. The kodiak bear continue to feast on the sivatherium carcass. The kodiak bear was approached by eight velociraptors but one was killed by a a gigantophis snake while the other was killed by a Magalania. A Nile crocodile was killed another velociraptors with its tail and one more with its bite. The kodiak bear killed the remaining four velociraptors. As the kodiak bear got back to eating the sivatherium carcass, it was dragged away by the Nile croc and disabled by a death roll. The Magalania seized its opportunity and helped the Nile croc kill the kodiak bear. Both reptiles feasted on the kodiak bear's dead body from either end. The shaochilong in the meantime bit the equus in the neck and killed it but not before the giant horse kicked the Magalania over while struggling. This gave the Nile croc a chance to eliminate another competitor - the magalania. The aucasaurus wanted some of the Megalania carcass but was whipped to the ground and killed by the angry Nile croc. The shaochilong was ambushed and strangulated by the gigabtophis snake. The Nile croc killed both the snake and the theropod. Winner: Nile croc.

I just don't know how you do it! They all turn out quite satisfying. I have been writing stories for a while now. Thanks for the matchups. Just a request: could you state the gender of the animals please?

I just don't know how you do it! My tip would be to use the "rope method". Imagine a fight as a tug-o-war where both combatants try to pull the rope's center in their direction. The actions taken by combatants should somehow move the rope. For a simple fight, you can have a fight where the center of the rope slowly, but steadily keeps moving in the bad guy's direction until the good guy in the climax finds the bad guy's weakness and turns the fight around. If you have eight combatants, however, multiple problems arise. First, you should stick as close to two parties as possible. Forming alliances can help (sure, the lion and the tiger might hate each other, but the polar bear is the greater problem), although it's not always believable with animals of different species. Or you can diminish the role of animals who are either too weak or too strong to make for an interesting fight. Or do it like oldgreengrolar and don't introduce them all at once. Secondly, the fight will be long and you probably need multiple phases where the center of the rope changes directions as well as buildup before each twist (a common mistake of mine is neglecting buildup). Wordcraft-wise, you need short and powerful sentences for scenes of high-excitement and more normal sentences during the buildup.

Next: Grizzly bear boar, 220 kg 2 Cape buffalo bulls, 768 kg each Bull walrus, 1.2 tons 3 lionesses, 130 kg each 5 female spotted hyenas, 60 kg each 6 wolves, 50 kg each, half and half of each gender Bull Nile crocodile, 1090 kg Wolverine boar, 17 kg Boar honey badger, 12 kg Black rhinoceros bull, 1.3 tons The animals were released from their enclosures but without any fresh kills. The three lionesses attacked a cape buffalo and pulled it down eventually. The smell of blood drew some of the hyenas and wolves but there were not enough of them to take out the lionesses. A grizzly bear boar with great aggression rushes in and displaces the lionesses from the buffalo carcass. As the grizzly bear feeds, a bull Nile croc sneaks up on the grizzly and drags it away. The croc kills the grizzly bear with a death roll. The hyenas surround the honey badger but the mustelid puts up a vicious fight and the hyenas deciding its not worth their time and energy on such a small animal proceed to feed on the buffalo carcass. While the lionesses were wrestling the other cape buffalo down, the same Nile croc, grabs the buffalo by the throat and kills it with a death roll. The Nile croc displaces the lionesses and takes over the carcass. The lionesses attack the hyenas and kills two of them before taking over the first buffalo carcass. The wolverine and the honey badger were engaging each other in a vicious fight. The carnivorous bull walrus ambushes and stabs the croc to death and takes over the 2nd carcass. The wolves surround and harass the walrus driving it away. All the commotion causes the black rhino to charge everything in sight killing the last three hyenas, one wolf, one lioness, and even trample the honey badger by accident. One of the lioness got too close to the bull walrus and was stabbed to death (as she took a rest). The third lioness killed the wolverine. The lioness than attack the wolves and killed one of them. All this commotion triggered the black rhino one again. The black rhino gored the walrus to death and killed the last lioness. Survivors: Black rhino, three wolves.

Polar bear, 544 kg Tibetan blue bear, 180 kg Glacier bear, 220 kg 10 Smilodon populator, 290 kg each 4 ancient bison bulls, 1.6 tons each 2 walrus bulls, 900 kg each Pachycrocuta clan of 6, mixed genders, 100 kg each Megaraptor, male, 1.5 tons Bull American mastodon, 11 tons Mapusaurus male, 8 tons Bull Triceratops, 12 tons I am going to enjoy this. The enclosures were opened once more. Ten smilodons immediately took down an ancient bull bison. A small Tibetan blue bear with the same level of aggression as a barren ground grizzly rushed and displaced the surprised smilodons. This gave the polar bear an opportunity to kill one of the smilodon populators. The polar bear then killed the Tibetan blue bear which was eating. As the polar bear ate the ancient bison carcass, the mapusaurus arrived and carried it away, killing it. The nine smilodons took out their anger on the pachycrocuta (which have just killed a walrus coorporately with their strong bone crushing jaws). The smildons killed most of the pachycrocuta except one. The glacier bear wrestled down and killed the last pachycrocuta by biting it on the spine and shaking it with its jaws. The smilodons attacked the remaining bull walrus and found out it was hard to kill even with their long canines but they did it. One smilodon carelessly went too close to the tusk and was crippled by the walrus. The megaraptor killed the glacier bear in the meantime before killing an ancient bison. The mapusaurus killed another ancient bison while the last one got bored to death by the triceratops. The mapusaurus killed the megaraptor to get rid of competition as well a killing one more smilodon after displacing the rest. The mapusaurus tried attacking the American mastodon but was gored to death by these tusks. The American mastodon trampled a few of the smilodons in the process. The mastodon and triceratops charged each other and a fierce fight happened. Despite being evenly matched at first, the triceratops being better protected and heavier won. During the fight the remaining smilodons were crushed. Winner: Triceratops.

Sauroposeidon, 60 tons 4 Daspletosaurus, 2.8 tons each Paraceratherium, 17 tons Borson's mastodon, 15 tons Straight tusked elephant, 11 tons Triceratops, 12 tons Elasmotherium, 7 tons 3 Pelorovis, 2 tons each 3 long horned bison, 2 tons each Apatosaurus, 72 tons The battle of herbivorous except the daspletosaurus. Here goes: The herbivores were grazing side by side. The daspletosaurus were hungry for prey and they target the bovines. One daspletosaurus killed a long horned bison by ambush. However, this frighten the other herbivores. The apatosaurus lashed out with its tail, narrowly missing the daspletosaurus but its tail struck the straight tusk elephant and all three pelorovis by accident - killing them of course. The Borson's mastodon and the elasmotherium panicked and attacked each other resulting in the mastodon winning. However, all this commotion caused the sauroposeidon to panicked and trample the mastodon by accident. The second long horned bison was also trampled to death by accident by the triceratops. Wanting to secure another meal. All four daspletosaurus gang up on the paracerethium and killed it but were charged at and driven off by the angry triceratops. The theropods regrouped and surrounded the triceratops. The disturbed Apatosaurus lashed out with its tail once more killing the theropods and the trihorn. The sauroposeidon happened to be in the Apatosaurus favourite eating spot and a clash between the souropods occurred. The heavier Apatosaurus made the lighter sauroposeidon move out of the way. Survivors: The Apatosaurus and the sauroposeidon.
