^Not to poke holes elosha, but the most common average for the American alligator is 4 meters and 360 kg*. The average mountain lion, on the other hand, is about 60 kg. I myself do not see a way the mountain lion could kill the alligator before being killed. And thanks for not showing any mountain lion bias/fanboyism/pseudo-fanboyism, unlike SOMEONE Honestly, those size estimates seem overly high, but that's based on my admittedly limited experience, not any rigorous analysis. Perhaps that's more in the wilderness/Everglades area, because I can tell you that in central Florida where I grew up, a 4 meter alligator would be monstrous and rarely ever seen. Only once did I hear of an alligator around 4 meters in my area, and it was not known if was even real or an urban myth. But I will accept that this is the gator's natural average size. Perhaps then the cougar in the account I posted killed a female adult or male subadult.

Yes, it likely was. You may have noticed the asterisk, so I'll give you that: Some populations average different sizes than the norm
