True, but the lack of experience applies here still. So, how'd you think the jaguar can kill the hyena before vice versa? it can use its claws and and crush its windpipe simalir to a leopard , hyenas are not good fighters on their own and scare away from animals smaller than themselves . the hyena would win if it used its sharp teeth to clamp down on the jaguar but the jaguar has surperior weapons [claws and sharp teeth] and has weight advantage .

No, the hyena has the size advantage. Read the OP. And how are hyenas poor fighters?

No extant subspecies of jaguar averages that. South American jaguars average 95 kg, and this is a Mexican jaguar, at 50-55 kg.

The OP clearly states otherwise: ''Those in the Chamela-Cuixmala Biosphere Reserve on the Mexican Pacific coast weigh just about 50 kg (110 lb), similar in weight as female cougars. 57.2 kg (126 lb) was the average for six males in Belize, making them similar to South American females in Venezuela.''

A plus B does not always equal C. I still have yet to hear an explanation as to how the jaguar will overcome lack of experience here.

I still have yet to hear an explanation as to how the jaguar will overcome lack of experience here. they have experince fighting hyena-like animals like wolves they are also very smart and i am sure the jaguar would find a way to overpower the hyena . on the flip side of the coin a hyena does not have much experince fighting jaguars either.

No, but it has experience fighting leopards, which are more similar to jaguars than wolves are to spotted hyenas. Therefore, the hyena has more experience.
And will you delete the hippo vs T rex thread?

And will you delete the hippo vs T rex thread? done . also i think hyenas are as simalir to wolves . they both hunt in packs , have strong jaws and have no claws to fight with . so a mexican jaguar would have experince fighting off animals simlair to hyenas . they can also fight off packs of wolves which would be too much for any hyena to handle . plus in terms of fighting leopards rely on their claws more and jaguars rely on their jaws . so jaguars , wolves and hyenas all fight more simalir to each other than to leopards
www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBNYwxDZ_pA
as you can see in this video the jaguar is relying on its powerful bite to take down the caiman
www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkqzH1TovRQ
as you can see leopards rely on grappling more than jaguars do

They are proportioned very differently, and also have different attack methods (wolves jaw grapple while spotted hyenas directly bite). How do you think the jaguar can get past that?

How do you think the jaguar can get past that? experince does not always equal who will win . i have heard of polar bears who have no experince fighting big cats , killing lions in forced caged fights

It does not, but it does play a deciding factor. That being said, good arguments. I still favor the hyena, but only 50/50 with an edge to it.
