Kodiak Bear - Ursus arctos middendorffi The Kodiak bear (Ursus arctos middendorffi), also known as the Kodiak brown bear, sometimes the Alaskan brown bear, inhabits the islands of the Kodiak Archipelago in southwest Alaska. The largest subspecies are the Kodiak bear (U. a. middendorffi) and the questionably distinct peninsular or coastal brown bear (U. a. gyas). Once mature, the typical female Kodiak bear can range in body mass from 120 to 318 kg (265 to 701 lb) and while from sexual maturity onward the male from 168 to 675 kg (370 to 1,488 lb), averaging 312 kg (686 lb). Utahraptor ostrommaysorum Utahraptor (meaning "Utah's predator" or "Utah thief") is a genus of theropod dinosaurs, including the largest known members of the family Dromaeosauridae. Fossil specimens date to the upper Barremian stage of the early Cretaceous period (in rock strata dated to 126 ± 2.5 million years ago). It contains a single species, Utahraptor ostrommaysorum. The holotype specimen of Utahraptor is fragmentary, consisting of skull fragments, a tibia, claws and some caudal (tail) vertebra. These few elements suggest an animal about twice the size of Deinonychus. Like other dromaeosaurids, Utahraptor had large curved claws on their second toes. One claw specimen is preserved at 22 centimetres (8.7 in) in length and is thought to reach 24 centimetres (9.4 in) restored. The largest described U. ostrommaysorum specimens are estimated to have reached up to 7 m (23 ft) long and somewhat less than 500 kg (1,100 lb) in weight, comparable to a grizzly bear in size. Some undescribed specimens in the BYU collections may have reached up to 11 m (36 ft) long, though these await more detailed study. Credit to Wikipedia

Classic match! I'd give it to Utahraptor. Much bigger, higher damage tolerance threshold, and significantly better armed. It'd likely maul or bite the bear to death with its jaws and claws, and it's pretty good at grappling.

However, it does help to show the advantage a gracile Utahraptor would have against a same sized bear, so the robust Utahraptor would have even more of an advantage against the smaller Kodiak

Remember, it's a 312 kg bear vs a 2/3 ton raptor

The kodiak bear and polar bear are more heavily built, however, they are outgun by the utah raptor in terms of body size and jaw size and agility.

Funny thing is, a few people on Carnivora backed the bear due to weight advantage

Yes, it does. People were randomly assuming 700 kg for the bear (no idea why)

I said the bear is more heavily built but cannot beat the heavier dinosaur. I voted for the utahraptor too btw.
