Only the largest freak Crocs could stand a chance against a bull hippo. Lolong was about 1.1 tons, and even he wouldn't be able anything but the smallest adult females. You need a 7m croc...

Dude WTF!? This is a mismatch. Hippo is too big. How about Gustave? Park rangers from Burundi claim that he has killed and devoured an adult Hippopotamus before. Gustave ain't your normal Croc though. And we don't know if that's true. Even a 1 ton Crocodile, which Gustave is would be killed by a Bull Adult Hippo. Let alone an average Nile Croc.

I'm sure he killed about, but there's no way he'd kill that many and a Bull Hippo is still alot bigger. It was maybe a not full grown small female that Gustave killed, even female hippos would kill Gustave since they're bigger as well. Must remember local's tend to exaggerate stuff.

They said it was a Bull Hippo, where are you getting this irrelevant coulda been a female or sub adult stuff from? You act as if it is utterly impossible for one case where a crocodile killed a bull hippo.

The Hippo was probably sick, weak or injured. Surely if it was healthy. It would've killed Gustave quite easily? And didn't you read what I said. Local's tend to exaggerate stuff.

Predators have killed prey with a much bigger weight disparity ratio than 3 to 1. Are you in denial? Now we are switching from it didn't kill a bull, to it was a female or sub adult, now it's back to your old it was sick excuse. Could've should've would've. Irrelevant. Well I guess you are no different from them now are you?

Yeah again probably sick, weak, injured ones. *Facepalm* HOW MANY TIMES MUST I DO THIS??? s17.photobucket.com/user/reddhole/media/SingleWolfKillsBullMuskOxPhoto001.jpg.htmlSub adult lion kills adult healthy giraffe. Please DM, stop with the bull shit. Lone predators kills healthy prey animals much bigger than them on a daily basis, I'm sick of having to refute you saying "oh they were weak or sick." hundreds of times.

But when it comes to Croc's and Hippo's I really can't see it being common. It could happen I suppose, but not often.

Not all prey animals are equally risky to take. An adult hippo certainbly isn't your average Artiodactyl, it's far more agressive and has huge, deadly jaws. Not saying it's impossible Gustave may have killed an adult hippo (since Gustave is a freaking huge crocodile indeed and the average bull hippo at least only outweighs it by ~50%, even tough some specimens grow much bigger than that), but I have my doubts, whether it isn't more likely that is a madeup story or the hippo in question was sub-average, sick, or otherwise handicapped. Are there any details reported as to how they knew it supposedly killed an adult bull Hippopotamus?

But my point was it wasn't impossible nonetheless.

"Predators" is too general a term, notice how your examples exclude Crocodiles? Crocodiles simply don't have the weaponry (there jaws are suited for holding prey to drown them) to kill a much bigger animal, especially one with the girth of a Hippo.

From looking t head size the croc doesn't look more than 12 feet. There was also a video, but lag is killing me. It's on page 3.
