A balance between the 2 is a wise choice. You have to splurge a bit if you want enough visitors to keep going, but don't overdo it.

Back on topic, are economics a consideration at all? When we design our museums, do we have to think we have an "average" budget? Do we need a "attract enough visitors to finance yourself" mindset? Well, I've acknowledged in my first post that, unless I have a handsome budget, my idea is probably unrealistic. I'd imagine just one hall lined with a myriad of different skeletons (à la the Parisian natural history museum I mentioned) would cost a lot to build and maintain, let alone two.

It was primarily a question to dinosauria to see if this thread has any "rules".

I mean yes, of course we ought to consider it. I think I was just too enthralled with the museum itself to consider it.

Then the very concept of an AVA museum becomes untenable, no matter what animals you put into it. It takes about as much effort as a normal museum whilst only appealing to a niche audience.

Poop.
An AVA movie/book/theme park/convention is probably better. As previously stated for a museum, I'd ditch the mammals, go full-on Jurassic Park style, have as many casts and mounts of >50 tonne sauropods as possible, and have plenty of famous classic dinos and some oddballs (large predatory theropods, dromaeosaurs, Deinocheirus, ceratopsians, ankylosaurs, hadrosaurs, Liaoningosaurus, etc). These would all be as accurate as possible.

Here's how I would design my natural history museum.
I would have a huge section of the building dedicated to prehistoric life. Each time era would have it's own section of the museum.
The museum would have sections in it for animals of different continents.
That's all for the first floor, the second floor would be dedicated to animals that went extinct because of humans such as the Great Auk and Moa, another part would be dedicated to a planetarium, and there would also be a part of the museum dedicated to cryptozoology to teach visitors why many cryptids are implausible.

Cryptids are a nice addition to my speculative evolution section.
