This is another report of a freshwater crocodile attack on a human, which I also posted in the freshwater crocodile profile; it was documented a year after the study posted in the OP was published. publications.rzsnsw.org.au/doi/pdf/10.7882/AZ.2011.049One of the things that shocked me were the cuts to the right shoulder blade. These were regarded as claw marks. This is the only documented incident I am aware of where a crocodilian's claws actually caused bodily harm. Having received a superficial laceration from an extremely playful dog’s nail since then (which I still have a picture of), I can say I’m more confident with these injuries really being from a croc’s claws, even if only incidentally/accidentally.

Also it just me or is that baboon bite wound nearly as wide as the one inflicted by the gorilla?

Also it just me or is that baboon bite wound nearly as wide as the one inflicted by the gorilla? I can now use ImageJ to measure things now that I'm working on my Master's thesis. If anyone has any idea how thick that man's upper arm is from the front to the back, I can use that to set up a scale bar and measure the width of that laceration. The gorilla bite wound has a ruler on it already, so I can probably use that for reference.

Can't find much info for how thick that portion of the arm is (google keeps bringing up shoulder width) but according to this random source, average adult male arm circumference is 34.3 cm. gitnux.org/average-arm-size/

This gives us a laceration width of ~2.32 cm. The gorilla bite laceration I posted above seems to be about 1 cm in width.

I have always argued that baboons and mandrills are much more formidable than chimps and gorillas at parity, but I never thought I baboon could inflict more tissue damage than a gorilla. I am aware that the gorilla also damaged the keeper's bone but imagine how fearsome a gorilla sized baboon would be.
