TBH I've never understood the point of the purpose of clickbait either. It just seems beyond petty to me - what's the point in getting so many content views if the content is not worth the views? I guess I might have a thing or two to learn on this topic. With that said.....I think what you note in your next paragraph is an excellent point. And it seems much more applicable to LOOP than to Ice Age Giants: I obviously don't have the total count for the covered locales in both but it seems like LOOP would have a significantly greater amount of animals and eras covered in its CGI, and consequently have a lot more diminish in its returns if it really is 25-30% VFX. It would also outclass DP and WDRA in that regard too - heck all three combined would cover probably no more than 3/8 of LOOP's episodes timeframe wise, which should give LOOP even more incentive on paper at least. Another thing is the fact that they literally have a trio of episodes on the least represented era in palaeodocumentaries, with CGI of hella obscure animals that have been minimally or never before shown on screen. It seems VERY dubious for them not to go the extra mile and fill up with animation if they're at that point with what each episode will have. Although, one final doubt I have is that all the evidence for time jumps is certainly not mutually exclusive of the alleged 70-75% non-VFX stuff like talking heads and whatnot. In fact I assume it would fit very nicely if it is in fact the case that there are talking heads: they tell us about one animal with a minute or two of VFX, then tell us as talking heads, then move on to the next. Edit: Yay, 9 pages and still over a week before LOOP comes out! And I will once again take 110% credit for Page 9.

Ummmmmmmmmmm......I sure wasn't expecting this to be the derivative for ANY of LOOP's models. And although I have no problem with the principle of editing existing models, I would be lying if I said I found this one aesthetically appealing - this had better be just a bad shot. What reused Jurassic World models means for the possibility of minimal VFX and maximal talking heads etc, I have no idea. Would this reusing be a positive indicator, negative indicator, or non-indicator? Infinity Blade The fact that they used a modified Jurassic World Allosaurus might be the clue to some of the other 'off' stuff. If the Triceratops looks to you like the Jurassic World version that might be because that's what it is (well a modified version of), and if the T. rex is demonstrably inaccurate it might be too Jurassic World-esque. Not to mention the SFX placeholders. The Jurassic Park T. rex roar doesn't come as a surprise to me anymore.

I saw this tweet before. I understood the criticism more when I didn't have the comparison to go off of: this way just makes the loop version seem pretty improved.
But yes, one of the reasons why cg has taken a lot of traditional animations real estate is model reuse. That and, well, the ability to approach realism more.
God, they need to just put the darn thing out already.

Their Allosaurus does kind of look like the one from JW/BaBR, which needless to say, doesn't make me feel thrilled. Maybe I should be glad JW never touched things like Megacerops; they certainly had to create their own unique model for that one.

BaBR?
Anyway, do we want to come up with provisional spoiler rules? I don't think we all want to/can binge all of this on the day of.

I hate to rain on your parade but if you remember the Jurassic World video SpinoInWonderland shared on Discord, it seems like they are using at least a few species of Cenozoic mammals in the game - given what they did with the Allosaurus it seems easily plausible for LOOP to have taken inspiration from those too. As long as LOOP can make nice models from the Jurassic World ones it's fine by me. But the condition is as long as it can make nice models, which so far it doesn't seem to from the way the Allosaurus looks.

God, they need to just put the darn thing out already. It's undeniably an improvement, no doubt about that. Just not one I think looks particularly nice on its own terms. They most definitely do. And when they do, I propose making the one spoiler rule as follows: putting anything that wasn't released prior to October 25 under a spoiler.

On the flipside, when would you lift that rule?

I guess when all the active members (quote me if you want to be counted as an active member!) have seen it.

I'm not sure which game you're talking about (there's a ton of JP franchise games), but game models are an entirely different thing from a movie model. They're of far lesser quality. And though there may be no limit to human stupidity/fallibility, I don't think the creators of LOOP would stoop so low as to use a video game model as their basis for any of their own. Any of the JW films I could understand why they'd do it (even if I disagree with it), but not a video game.

I think they look good so far, by and large. Twitter only seems pleased with the Paleozoic creatures, if any.

One week until LOOP is out! I will be taking some bets now, based on the trailers:
-I bet the Dunkleosteus will have to try several times before catching an ammonite. -I bet the Arthropleura will be just peachy. -I bet the gorgonopsid will successfully hunt the pariesaur. -I bet the Lystrosaurus will be pretty lonesome. -I bet the Plateosaurus hatchlings will have adult company. -I bet the sauropod in the river will drown. -I bet the Triceratops will be T. rex lunch. -I bet the cave lion hunt will not succeed. -I bet there will end up being some injuring conflict between the Titanis and Smilodon no matter which side wins.

Apparently you should expect less talking heads and more modern animal footage.

I would be very surprised if the cave lions get the baby mammoth.
