Hey, more power to you if you can reconcile your religious beliefs with evolution! So long as the latter is a thing to you, that's what really matters as far as interest and study in the natural world goes.

I'm not standing alone in this either. Some Paleontologists are Christians. Here are my thoughts. Some form of elephant group was either stranded up in the arctic tundra or moved into it, when the weather began to get really cold. Was it by sheer accident that his coat grew thick and long and he developed a thick undercoat? Did his ivory tusks grow big and rounded so that he could use them to brush away the snow so that he could graze? So many examples. No, I don't believe that it all happens by sheer chance. However, I'm just explaining my views, not attempting to change your's.
