Although moving from the balls of the feet is important for quickness, standing with heels planted allows more swinging force, suggesting that aggression may have played a part in shaping our stance.
Another hypothesis, which Carrier and colleague Christopher Cunningham of the University of Georgia explored, is that a plantigrade stance allows the arms more striking force by increasing the torque, or rotational force that can be applied to the ground.

I have been asked by kodiak to ban mountainlion for the misinformation he posted and I will make my decision public here.
We discussed this in the staff section and it has been concluded that posting misinformation is an insufficient reason for banning. For one, even misinformation can help people learn something if it is explained why it is wrong. Second, most people who post misinformation believe it to be true due to bias. We cannot just ban everyone who is biased, as this is an accusation thrown around in almost any heated AVA debate and we certainly don’t want to discourage those. Finally, there's no rule against it, as WoA has no ministry of truth.
However, there are certainly rules against the sort of behavior both of our debaters have displayed in this thread, as dinosauria explained.

You might be correct in your assertions but if you feel that your debating rival is not listening to you, then it is better to bring an end to this conversation (or) seek intervention from the staff members*. *In this case, you may request staff members to open a Courtroom Session for the issue at hand wherein WE (i.e. staff members) shall review your and your rival's posts, request both to highlight relevant inaccuracies, and issue a final verdict. Well well well, i see that after our postings, the poll is still 9 to 4 in favour of the brown bear. Looks like MY postings made much more of an impact, looks to me that am the one convincing people. The poll is clear.
the brown bear vs tiger debate is over. Here are the reasons:
#1: barely anyone is still debating this on forums, ML is one of the few left. why? Because as i have shown, the most respected and smarter TIGER fans, like Peter, Cooper, and Amurtiger, all favour the brown bear over the tiger starting with an 100 lb weight advantage. For example, Amurtiger stated it was 7/8 out of 10 for the brown bear.
#2: based on all he has read, researched, talked to biologists, and hunters himself, Peter, the most smarter tiger fan on forums, has stated that most of the AUTHORITIES in the know about bears and tigers in the Russian far east, have stated that on similar size, brown bears would win on points. Also, in average animals, (Amur tiger 420 lbs, Ussuri brown bear 580 lbs), the statistics favour the bear. Tigers dominate the divisions up to 200 kg, while bears dominate the heavyweight division. The adult males AVOID each other. There are 3 cases in history of adult male brown bears killed by tigers which are not confirmed, while there are 2 cases of adult male tigers killed by brown bears which are confirmed.
#3: Russian biologist Alexander Batalov stated that Amur tigers avoid large male brown bears. Vsevolod Sysoev stated the same thing. Linda Kerley stated that tigers hunt brown bears “up to the largest and healthiest females” Sergei MIKHAILOVICH SHIROKOGOROV also Said they avoid each other. Pikunov stated that large male brown bears are definitely not on the menu.
#4: in captive fights, where most fights are face to face and the tiger loses its ambush advantage, its not even close, bears have dominated.
#5: brown bears have a huge weight advantage (the adult males), are stronger, more durable, more stamina, and much more intelligent. Simple as this.
No need to waste more time here. Debate over.
