A 70 kg male Komodo Dragon has entered a gauntlet and needs to clear these rounds to survive Round 1: A 21 kg cheetah Round 2: A 40 kg male Spectacled Caiman Round 3: A 38 kg male gray wolf Round 4: A 41 kg male Giant Anteater Round 5: A 62 kg male Broad Snouted Caiman Round 6: A 55 kg male Snow Leopard Round 7: A 65 kg male Sun Bear Round 8: A 65 kg male Cougar Round 9: A 73 kg Deinonychus

Getting to round 7 shouldn't be a problem. It's 50/50 at round 7 and 8. The last battle depends on if Deinonychus can use the RPR method effectively.

Round 5 is the first time the komodo goes down more than 50% of the time.

I think it stops at either 8 or 9. The cougar has muscularity, speed and agility on it's side. But the Komodo Dragon also has durability, size and venom which will give it the last laugh. I think it wins round 8 with some casualties. Round 9 however shouldn't be a hard win for the dromaeosaur.

Hm, wolf is probably the hardest opponent.

Hm, wolf is probably the hardest opponent. How's a 38 kg Wolf harder than a 73 kg Deinonychus? The Sun Bear or Cougar stop it.

The varanid does have some experience with large canines, feral dogs are not quite wolves but it is an advantage.

The stamina of a Bear is almost on par with that of a Wolf, and it's nearly twice as big.

A 70 kg Komodo Dragon would easily kill a 38 kg gray wolf, it's much larger, has way sharper teeth, has venom and is more durable. Once the lizard bites it's legs, it's all over.

This is not a contest between athletes of similar morphology.

The bite of the dragon into a vital area would kill all animals on that ist with the exeption of the gators.

Remember that this is not only about dodging, the larger size of some of the other animals would make it easier for them to kill the dragon and they are probably not that much slower/less agile than the wolf.

Canids are ridiculously quick. I do not think other carnivorans, especially larger ones can keep up at all. Examples: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXWxSPWy2qgwww.youtube.com/watch?v=uu6LskdU1QQ But your are probably right, a cougar would probably kill the dragon rather easily with a skull bite and this should be figured in.

The wolf has to fight though. And once it gets close, it will get bitten and killed rather quickly.
