Eagles are as overrated as ****. Brontornis wins this with ease, one strong hit can kill or seriously injure the eagle as broly stated. Haast's Eagles only killed birds that had no real defense because it's only predator was in the air

Brontornis would take the eagle as a snack

Latter wins by size alone. What a big bird. Puts Big Bird to shame.

Yeah, this one's an easy win for Brontornis. One hit and it's game over for the eagle.

Brotornis would win this. But if he knew eagle was coming. Its not that easy to hit something going at you with speed of 80 km/h if it comes at you from behind like haast's eagle would. if haaast's eagle would be coming from the front Brontornis would simply pluck it out of the sky and it would be over. But even then it is not that easy to hit something going as fast as a car if you are not particularly fast yourself. If brontornis would notice the eagle eagle would have little to no chance to win this fight. But if this fight was to occur. which it would not but who cares. The eagle would be sitting on branch just high enough to give him maximum speed at shortest distance to cover and in position that would also give him good view and making him harder to spot at the same time. If eagle would time this perfectly. as Brontornis was turning away from the eagle and eagle was behind targeting ether back of Brontornis's head or the back. (Back easier target to hit, head surer kill) Just turning the head would not give B the positioning necessary to hit the eagle. He would have to turn his entire body. If eagle targets the back and B turns he will still need to lower his head to give a strike. so if this happens eagle still has a chance to survive this. With eagle choosing his distance wisely close enough to close the distance before B turns around. While at the same time enough of distance for eagle to reach his maximum speed and remain hidden before the strike so B has less time to react. eagle has about 5.6 times the energy of .45 caliber bullet. and about 78 times the momentum. Of course bullets concentrate the force on small area. However eagles talons are a small area. If eagle did manage to hit Brontornis then he would kill him. In actual encounter with eagle knowing what brontornis is capable of (that it is not just another helpless moa) he would try to ambush B preferably from behind . Under those circumstances Haast's eagle has just as much chance of killing brontornis as brontornis has of killing the haast's eagle.

Under those circumstances Haast's eagle has just as much chance of killing brontornis as brontornis has of killing the haast's eagle. Reason? The terror bird is almost 30 times the weight of the eagle. I do not like the former's odds

The haast eagle has killed Moas by grabbing their pelvis and letting them bleed to death, however, unlike the moas, the brontornis will be more likely to fight back.

First of all I said Brontornis would usually win.
At less specific circumstances which I described would be met. And then it is 50/50
Haast's eagle
"Its size and weight indicate a bodily striking force equivalent to a concrete block falling from the top of an eight-storey building"
Now the difference between concrete block and haast's eagle hit is that concrete block hits with its whole area. Haast's eagle has sharp talons which focus this energy on relatively small area and do damage through the fact that unlike a concrete block they dig into the flesh as they hit. Yes Haasts' eagle can use his beak to inflict damage and cause lethal blood lose. But its usual strategy is simply to hit the victim with great force that would kill almost instantaneously.
I do think that Brontonis would win under most circumstances (I'm sorry if I did not make that clear). However under specific circumstances that I described the eagle has 50/50 chance.

Well, I certainly can see where you're coming from. The eagle MAYBE could win by ambush.
