World population to reach 9.6 billion by 2050 – UN

The reason why the people need more children there is because they won't have a payed pension, nor a health insurance, so they need people who care for them if they are too old or ill. Not to mention they need people helping them with their work. Most of the women in such countries don't work, so they have more time to care for children than in the richer ones.

That being said, this will definitely change in 2050. African countries will bring the greatest rise. China's one child policy is likely the most important reason why the forecasts for 2050 are below 10 million.

There will be 13 billion people in 2100…
Before I read this, I had expected 10 billion or 11 billion (the maximum that I could imagine). Asia's population is going to shrink after 2050, but Africa will continue to drive growth and is going to close the gap to Asia. At least the growth of rich countries (the biggest problem) will be unsurprisingly low.

The countries in Europe, Australia, etc with low birth rates increase only through immigration. The population on earth will increase but those with low birth rate will decrease.

Not exactly 1,000, but damn close. With a growth rate of 1.59%, it will hit the 1,000 per sq kilometer next year, without a doubt. It's population already now is higher than Russia's and it is believed to hit the 250 million inhabitants in 2050:

I know, Fragilimus said the whole world population would fit into Texas, but it really isn't that easy (especially because you would need to build enough houses in that small area and I already mentioned the problems with supply of consumption goods in the overpopulation thread).

You are right, USA has a higher birth rate than other western countries (e.g. Europe). Scandinavia has a fertility rate at slightly above 1.5 because of immigration as well and so does Australia.

Australia has a lot of mix marriages and people of ethnic ambiguity (especially among the younger generation).

Even Asian countries like Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea have relatively low birth and fertility rates too.
