Looks like they mistook the facets for the transverse processes for bite marks. These are present on any vertebra where the transverse processes haven’t fused yet or have broken off, no bite mark there.

Looks like they mistook the facets for the transverse processes for bite marks. These are present on any vertebra where the transverse processes haven’t fused yet or have broken off, no bite mark there. It looks like something happened. Feeding damage can be difficult to identify at times.

Looks possibly like bite marks on a bowhead whale.
