Why is Giganotosaurus a part of I-rex, when latter doesn't look like Giganotosaurus at all? Even Majungasaurus and Rugops are a part of I-rex, but the latter doesn't look like them either. The only dinosaur which fits nicely with I-rex's characteristics is Carnotaurus. I think they just picked some random dinosaurs.
The best thing is that none of those dinosaurs never appeared in a JP film.
The whole I-rex idea is tremendous to me. Even Yutyrannus would have been a better choice than this ugly lizard-ish thing.

Yutyrannus actually would have been an awesome choice. But for obvious reasons they didn’t want something with such unambiguous proof of feathers…

We'll see that in the movie.
Trevorrow said he understood why we can be worried about a fictious hybrid creature while there are many potential real life dinosaurs to use. He said to wait to see the movie for that.
To me the beast looks like a Gigantosaurus-sized abelisaurid with huge arms and I expect it to have the Carnotaurus ability from the second novel.
I think this can be intetesting and very entertaining to see the contrast between this monster and the animals that represent real dinosaurs.
Also gigadino, the description of the beast on the official website is made by Brian Switek who has direct information to the background of the beasts in the movie so his description is serious.

I really dont understand their stance on feathers. One of my favorite paleopics is Jon Conways Tyrannosaurus johnconway.co/tyrannosaurus-rexThere are several reasons I like this picture but one of them is that the presence of this Tyrannosaurus would be terrifying in real life. It is not an archaic monster hellbent on destruction limited by its lack of binocular vision, but feels like a real predator: cunning and efficient. A reboot of Tyrannosaurus should contain the knowledge of our time.

JW T. rex is the female from JP so they couldn't update it.

So is it indominosaurus rex, or deoblosaurus rex? What monster are they cooking up now? Eatyourfacesaurus? Dosntexistodon?

Even if you're not enthusiastic toward the movie, there's no need to troll.

Me? It was an honest question. No need to be so harsh.

The information has been given, the fictional creature is Indominus rex (intamable king), it is based on genetic material of Giganotosaurus and various abelisaurids.
That's the only hybrid in the movie and not the only threat.

But there are dozens of theropods to chose from, why make a hybrid?

allosaurusatrox: Apparently using the theropods that they already had wasn’t exciting enough, and the tons of other great giant theropods they could have used didn’t look unique enough a movie producers who obviously have very little real interest in dinosaurs. So instead they made one up (which doesn’t look unique either, just like a poor reconstruction of a carnosaur). In the end, there probably isn’t going to be much of a difference, you won’t be able to tell apart inaccurate portrayals of real animals from what was supposed to be a genuine hybrid. I think it’s a dumb idea too, but some people like to imagine it as conveying some message about genetic manipulation (notwithstanding that the disastrous outcome of messing with real species in the previous parts was much more powerful imo), maybe that helps.

Seems more fun than I had expected. But is it just me, or are those droms even more oversized than in the last movie? This time they look like full-blown Utahraptor (minus the feathers of course).
