What are the general thoughts on this? www.deviantart.com/fadeno/art/Deinosuchus-hatcheri-multiview-skeletal-850628356On the surface, this seems like a fairly well-founded reconstruction, though I didn’t check the details of it or try to replicate it. If accurate, Deinosuchus would seem to be the record-holder by quite a margin, at least based on the available evidence. The larger specimen here is the same one I previously recognized as possibly the largest, although I estimated a significantly smaller size for it, based on a much smaller estimated Dorsal cranial length for the (very incomplete) specimen (10.5-11.2 m, which actually seems to line up reasonably well with what Fadeno estimates for smaller specimens of a comparable DCL). theworldofanimals.proboards.com/post/46079/threadThere’s also this: www.deviantart.com/fadeno/art/The-Terrible-Crocodiles-Deinosuchus-skulls-840506033It’s important to note that the skull material is very incomplete, so probably cross-scaling should be taken with a grain of salt. However the smaller specimen in the skeleton is based on more substantial postcrania (and perhaps the only specimen with substantial vertebral remains), and seems to end up almost as large. That’s also an important point about extrapolations only based on the skulls, of course; probably taking into account the postcrania is quite important, though I would be interested in the error margins, since they too seem to be rather fragmentary.

I'm not much of an expert on this kind of thing, so my thoughts basically just boil down to "be skeptical due to fragmentary remains, but it's worth considering". fadeno does some pretty great work (although, he is inactive at the moment).
