This is like getting a shark to fight a lion.

Well, Spinosaurus was most likely not that aquatic. In fact, even its semi-aquaticism has been recently called into question by Henderson.

I still feel Basilosaurus would be a far more appropriate opponent for Spinosaurus.

I still feel Basilosaurus would be a far more appropriate opponent for Spinosaurus. No, Basilosaurus is a whale, Spinosaurus is akin to a giant heron.

That was before Spinosaurus was revamped in 2014.

That was before Spinosaurus was revamped in 2014. No, read Henderson 2018. Spinosaurus being semi-aquatic never was a consensus and even less now. I don't see either the purpose to compare it to Basilosaurus, even if it was semi-aquatic.

Then is Planet Dinosaur Spinosaurus accurate after all?

No, Spinosaurus had small legs (but not necessarily as small as Ibrahim et al. proposes) and wasn't a 11 tonnes behemoth. Latest estimates suggest 6.4-7.2 tonnes for a 15-15.6 m adult.

This isn't nearly the mismatch some of you are making it out to be! T rex wins on land, Spinosaurus wins in water.

How? Spinosaurus aegyptiacus has enough size advantage to stand a chance in shallow water, and would win hands-down in deep water. Remember, this is only a mismatch in favor of T rex on land.

Ah, okay. I think I stand by my point of Spino winning in water, but it'd have to be on the deeper side.
Oh and just out of curiosity rock, did you make an account on Carnivora?
