The reason I use top down understanding is because I have no choice. Because i have no background necessary and no one to guide me.

The funny thing is that I think I used both equally as much here. Deductive (top-down) reasoning in that I actually asked what we evidence we should expect to find of the Tasmanian creature if it were real (but couldn't quite answer because I didn't even know what the hell it was supposed to be), plus the fact that we never seem to have found anything quite like it in the animal kingdom, hence me thinking that it being real is unlikely. Induction (bottom-up) in that I see absolutely no strong evidence for something like the Tasmanian creature as described existing, and therefore I think it safe to think it's highly unlikely, if not dismiss it altogether.

I admit that I can't use bottom up approach as far as understanding human brain.


As far as Tasmanian creature  like I said very strange things sometimes happen. So no I don't dismiss it right off hand. There is information here by someone who has no reason to lie and who has some credentials. That is not prove. But dismissing it right off hand is not the right way to do it any more than than accepting the scientist word that its true. like I stated Tasmanian creature was far down the list of animals i think exist. But just like following evidence one has to exhaust every possibility. even if chances are  slim that it is the correct one. With criminal investigation that can be difficult because your job is to find a killer as quickly as possible and without accusing any innocent person or slowing down the investigation. But here we have nothing to lose. One of my brothers likes to say the chances of something happening are slim to none and slim just run away. That is very different way than I think. My approach is why not try it anyway if we have nothing else to do. 


In this case we have nothing to lose. but if there is a slightest chance that it is true. and even and even if it turns out to be untrue no big lose. The risk vs reward is very much for at least looking into it. 

Also even if not all of the statements made are true a possibility of finding new species of any kind species is still worth looking into. infect if you take away things like being able to sustain fire and chemicals out of equation. Tasmanian creature still has enough unusual features to make it unique and perhaps interesting creature to find. But now in my opinion this looks much more realistic. of course without absolute prove. But if there is a place where unusual and unique life form could be found it would be in the the ocean in the area already rich in diversity. and I think we owe it to ourselves and our own pursuit of knowledge to at least look at it.

I never said this biologist had any reason to lie, and yes I know he has credentials...as a biologist of animals confirmed to exist. It's been pointed out before in this thread that there are other biologists that believe in cryptids. That doesn't mean that their claims or reasons hold much water.

Lastly, just saying, but we actually do have something to lose if you're talking about spending actual time, money, and resources into trying to find what we know and admit are the unlikeliest cryptids to exist. Needless to say, we live in a world where we could be spending said time, money, and resources in a ton of more useful ways, even solely within the scope of zoology. Not least among those include checking up on the conservation status of species we know exist (or existed, if they've recently gone extinct under our noses), making efforts to save those species if they do turn out to be threatened, or distinguishing between different species to see whether or not certain populations represent distinct species worth a greater degree of attention towards saving (the case of the red wolf's taxonomy is a prime example of this).

As far as me looking at patterns its not as easy for me as it is for you because i don't have education in that area. and human brain really is complicated even if you have someone to guide you which I don't. I'm good at discovering and recognizing patterns. and things that i would like to do with human brain are even more outlandish than my views on cryptids. But I'm aware that chances of even understanding human brain in its entirety is very difficult. And there are new discoveries made all the time showing us that we don't know everything. If you said to someone even neuroscientist  that astrocytes are just as important to the brain as neurons 10 or even 5 years ago they would not believe you. If you would say that brain waves are not just side effects of working neuron but part of the cognitive process  10 or maybe even 5 years ago they would also be unsure they would consider it but only if it was pointed out to them how this is done.  Right now both of the things I named appear to be true. but with brain you never really know it takes lots of experiments to say anything.

If you compared book from nineties to modern book there is no comparison how much more we know. But by that same token 10 years from now we will know much more and someone looking back will be surprised how little we knew. That is part of what makes the brain a tricky thing

as far as our resources being used in more productive ways. i'm the last person to say that saving existing species especially ones on the brink of extinction is not important. But while zoologist and policy makers should definitely take good care of animals that we know exist probably better care than they do now specifically the policy makers. I believe ther is a place for cryptozoology as well. first cryptozoologist often provide their own money to explore the possibility of cryptids. at least that is what I would try to do (of course I have no capital to do so). But yes I somebody would offer to pay for me to study cripids I would probably take it at leas I had substantial capital of my own. 

None the less those who look for cryptids usually use their own money ( I could be wrong about this but I never heard of any policy maker giving money to cryptozoologists to finance their work)

And number of workers who were blasting the site when they awaken the snake seen it. only thing I'm sorry for is that they hang it on chains which killed the snake if it was not already dead which is what workers claim. I don't know what happened to the body whether scientists had a chance to look at it or not. 

 But assuming they didn't. one might say that is convenient for someone who believes that there might be something to this story. So the story has to be made up.

However for the workers it was perfectly natural to get rid of the body because it was preventing them from doing their job. they hang the body on chains as a  
curiosity because the snake was so big and made a picture of it being interested in their work not science behind the snake.

As far as him being naive in this case. Honestly I don't think he was being that naive (maybe subconsciously i'm saying this because i consider the possibility of 10 meter snake but i don't think so ) 

Nor do I think this case is too outlandish especially that I saw a picture of this snake. Yes i'v seen it on the internet not in a scientific journal. so no I can't say for sure how much it was studied (the snake not the picture) and yes press tends to exaggerate. But picture of the snake I saw was clearly large enough to be 10 meters.

And there are jokes about largest anacondas and fake pictures. But I do dare to think that there is a chance that this one is real.  They also have videos of the snake.

And no i'm not an expert on pictures so i can't tell you if it is fake or real just by looking at it.  and yes there is lot less information about it than there used to be. and yes there are similar pictures  much larger snakes  that are fake.But you can clearly see that on those photos toys were used. I don't think this is the case here. 

And the pictures that are fake are clearly marked as fake by those who watched them which was not the case here.

Anndddd alot of them are scammers who extort money from people who found their entire existence on belief and imagination. They don't get money like actual scientists because there's nothing of merit. 

It's called being gullible.

There are actual people out there, like Forrest Galante, who are actually going out and actually finding animals thought to be extinct. Those are people who deserve funding and praise. Not pseudoscientific scammers who prey on gullible people. 

Plus there is one more thing. if there are criptids out there they have not been found because they are rare. Okapi for example once was considered a cryptid. in fact very few people believed that it existed. At least that is what I think I read but it was a while ago so I'm not sure. And okapi is endangered so sometimes finding cryptids allows us to discover species that are already in trouble and protect them from deforestation for example so that they will not be completely gone before anyone even notices their existence.

The distinction between the okapi and these other ambiguous "animals" is that there was actual evidence of its existence presented to people (skins, bones, etc) and that helped show the new world, and a larger portion of the old world(mainly europeans), that it was an actual animal. Many cryptids are reported to be seen incredibly regularly, so the argument to "it must be rare" falls directly on its face. Given the fact that the Okapi is an endangered species, and was still proven to science, while the incredible majority of these dubious "species" still have no:

- skeletal remains
- Valid DNA evidence
- A living individual of the species
- Actual close up videographic evidence 

I think it is incredibly humorous when people go to " noone believed that the komodo dragon, coelocanth, okapi, etc existed but they were shown to be real" argument. While those animals have all been proven to be valid species, these popular cryptids still have exactly 0 credible evidence to their existence. That includes your ambiguous report of the Mngwa, which hasn't been reported in 100 years. Probably, because as Kekistani correctly pointed out, was probably just an aberrant color phase of a known species. 

Just like okapi miniature hippo was considered non existent before it was discovered. And in this case I know nobody believed it was real.

The okapi was never thought to be 'non-existent', it was just unknown to the larger part of the world. Bringing up the pygmy hippo doesn't help your argument at all, in the early 20th century there was living animals sent to the united states and show cased in zoos.

The Okapi is not a species of giraffe.

. And if miniature hippo is possible despite nobody believing it. so is 10 meter anaconda

Refer to what i posted above about your line about the pygmy hippo. Also, given the fact that the largest green anaconda scientifically verified was short of 7m, and that was already a gigantic animal, i would really, really doubt a 10m animal exists. This is more up my realm than the other species, so i can have that conversation about giant snake body size all day.

(notice i said 10 not 30 which is sometimes said. But even I'm doubtful of that that is true. i however will never say something is not worth looking in to even if just to satisfy curiosity)

There is no evidence whatsoever that picture was faked.

Given your insistence that you believe 'imagination over logic', i am not even remotely surprised you said this. Forced perspective, less than honest accounts, and the good ole photoshop are all reasons you see "giant snakes" on the internet. Give me your examples, and  i will provide evidence that they are fake, or at least dishonest in their presentation.

And number of workers who were blasting the site when they awaken the snake seen it.

Just because people "see a snake", doesn't mean its as large as it is claimed. People are provably bad at guessing sizes of animals, not just snakes. 

only thing I'm sorry for is that they hang it on chains which killed the snake if it was not already dead which is what workers claim. I don't know what happened to the body whether scientists had a chance to look at it or not.

I've seen many very large snakes being strung up for photo ops. None of them are 10m, even though they are clearly sizeable snakes.

 assuming they didn't. one might say that is convenient for someone who believes that there might be something to this story. So the story has to be made up.



However for the workers it was perfectly natural to get rid of the body because it was preventing them from doing their job. they hang the body on chains as a

curiosity because the snake was so big and made a picture of it being interested in their work not science behind the snake.



although i don't have an absolute prove of this. I don't know if scientists



saw the body. and even if they did i never have



but i do think there is enough evidence to look into it. yet only dinosauria even considered that there might be any ring of truth to it.

"dinosauria" could not even crop his poorly made size comparisons, so he is not a credible source of information.
