We humans are lucky … we can get our vitamin D3 not just from diet, but from exposure to the sun. But dogs and cats are different. They get insignificant amount of Vitamin D from both sources. I found a good blog on this discussion & want to share it with you guyz so that u become knowledgeable of this thing. As all we have pets at our homes and we should have to feed them good diet. I am talking about this blog - www.smallanimalplanet.com/, here you get all information related to "VITAMIN D AND YOUR DOG". I also want to read more about it, blog suggestions are most welcome.

Simply put - most dogs and cats in the developed world are fed a crappy diet of highly processed pet food (which is even worse than the standard Western diet that humans eat), not to mention get vaccinated too often (once per 3 years to yearly), repeated toxic flea and tick treatments and so forth... They also get the same amount of exposure to environmental toxins that we get,, however there are many pure breed dogs and cats that are getting so inbred that risks of certain recessive genetic cancers expressing themselves increases exponentially. It wouldn't be as bad if many more dogs and cats were fed BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Foods) and are given much longer intervals between vaccinations.
