Can you produce half of the existing numbers? No. A half for an infinite is simply impossible to attain. Transfinite cardinalities are not effected by taking halves which is not clearly defined.

I always hated dealing with infinityÂ…

There is no set theoretic operation that correponds to taking half of the set with transfinite cardinalities. What is half of all sentences? This question has no clear answer.

So how can something be half of an infinite?

So how can something be half of an infinite? The question you ask does not make sense. You are the person proposing it.

That was in response to this post: The word "demiomniptent" was defined as: "being able to do everything that is metaphysically possible". It has nothing to do with performing undefined operations on infinite sets.

I was not responding to the word demiomnipotent, but was telling VD that you can't have half-omnipotence.

I was not responding to the word demiomnipotent, but was telling VD that you can't have half-omnipotence. You misunderstand what I meant, I definitely could have worded it better. I was saying omnipotence=infinte power coherentsheaf used the word demiomnipotence to help explain what he meant when he referred to omnipotence (capable of all things that are possible, thus not actually all powerful at all and the word omnipotence is used solely for convienence) within that context stating half of infinity is still infinity was pointless especially since we were no longer dealing with a true infinity. My proplem wasnt with anything but the word itself though do to its contradicting nature, I certainly didnt intend to spawn a pointless argument about infinity.

Question, have any of you seen a creationist appear to "give in to" or "walk away" from solid arguments from an evolutionist, on the internet? many of the ones that i have seen - on both youtube and forums - seem to go on and on and on,,,, to the point of evolutionists calling it quits in some cases - realizing how pointless it is... even when pitted against several articulate and well versed evolutionists at once..
they've gotta be among the most stubborn people out there....

Reading the opening post of my initial thread, which is about 1 years 8 months ago now, I find it interesting how my opinion has shifted over the past 20 months or so.
BTW, as of right now, I'm definitely an atheist (or at the very least, an agnostic atheist). Likewise, the Aquinas is rubbish and should not be used as an argument by anyone intellectually honest.

I know that feeling. There are few of my posts that are older than a year and that I like to read.

You all know my spiritual beliefs, but as for the idea of god? You know, I do feel that we as a whole hold a purpose that cannot be explained with logic. There are just some things in this reality that cannot be explained. But before I get deep into my points, I'll just say this. God is the universe, and the universe is god. Only the universe can be omnipresent. Only the universe can be omniscient. Only the universe can be omnipotent. We are all god in a sense, because we belong to the universe. Sure there can be higher forces out there that we can't explain at this time, but that's what I think. the universe is simply inhabiting itself.
I don't think that there was ever nothing. For nothing can only make nothing. If nothing could actually make something, then we should be seeing this happen right now, regardless of size. I say this because we can see small particles seemingly appear and disappear. How come random materials don't just come out of nowhere? Why don't things disappear randomly, and then come back?
Another thing. You have all probably heard this before, but the planet Jupiter prevents most asteroids and comets from hitting us. The planet earth has just the right conditions perfect for human life as well as other forms of life. There is a seasonal cycle that happens that benefits the entire planet. Animals, plants, insects, etc are all benefited from this. There exists the circle of life, and natural selection.
I can go on and on, on how balanced this planet is. It just seems so incredibly unlikely if not impossible that such a spectacular planet can just form by itself, and if it did, I feel that an intelligent force was what did it. Directly, or indirectly. There are many planets that CANNOT sustain life, and the ones that can can only support very very basic lifeforms like bacteria. In my opinion, I don't see them evolving into something more complex. Some of these planets have been around much longer than earth, and the bacteria like life forms still have not evolved, though they had eons to do it.
I've also started looking more into evolution AND the bible. I question both, and believe both in some ways. It's very confusing for me. For example, we have found evidence of other human species that we used to exist with, and we are also related to chimps by 98% and much much more! We even have proof on how Saber like fangs have evolved and devolved many times on large cats!
But, take the Noah's ark story into account. EVERY CULTURE AROUND THE WORLD has a flood story, and in theory, it is possible for a large percentage of the planet to be flooded.
Jesus Christ is in all religions, and is even accepted in most history books. I am willing to accept that Jesus did exist though we have no body of him. Another thing that recently freaked me out, is the Story of Moses. At one point in his story, god supposedly split the sea allowing Moses and his people to walk through safely. When the Pharaoh and his army went after the Jews, god restored the sea to normal, and drowned Pharaoh and his army. Did you know they actually found chariot wheels along with horse and human remains in the red sea?
So yeah, I continue to study both, but I do feel that both the bible and evolution can have some type of connection.
