Who's a fan here? I love it, the best thing on television right now, and I've read the books as well. If anyone else watches, what did you think of the shocking events of the last episode, i.e. the "Red Wedding?"

I planned to make a thread. I'm a big fan, I've discovered it only 3 weeks ago and I've engulfed all the seasons until now.
Yes, the Red Wedding was absolutely awesome in that we usually don't see that on TV Shows.
Some critics said it is like the Sopranos in the Middle-Earth. I'm totally agreed.
A masterpiece for sure.
Have you a favorite character ? All are excellent in their development, Tyrion being overall the most popular for good reasons. But these times I love Sandor Clegane in terms of pure badassness, Bronn being not bad either, but with a lack of honor. And I loved Catelyn and Robb...

I hadn't read the books before the first season and was amazed when they killed him off. FYI, he's portrayed as a better fighter in the series than in the books, but he always has the same sense of honor. Poor Sean Bean gets killed in everything, lol. The Hound is a great, "grey" character. I'm liking Jaime more and more, and Jon Snow gets better as the series goes on. Daenerys Targaryen is a wild card, she has moments of greatness in the books, followed by tedious boredom. Hopefully her role gets stepped up in the remaining two books.

Oh and Tyrion and Arya are most excellent too. The actor playing Tywin Lannister is just brilliant. Such a cold-hearted, intelligent, and formidable opponent. But not all bad, still got some grey in him.

I was spoiled for Ned's as I had seen a compilation of all the deaths of Sean Bean lol. The only movie where he does not die was "Troy".
Tywin is a great bad guy and I love the character as despite being cruel, he's at first a soldier, he's not perverse like most of his family, though Jaime indeed becomes more and more a "nice guy" (all is relative, I don't forget the end of the Pilot !).
I place my hopes on Jon Snow and Arya (I did not read the books though I'm a bit spoiled on some elements).
I hope to see again Jaqen H'gar in the fourth season too !
Walder Frey and Roose Bolton are certainly now the most hated characters in the show.
Also, great to see that the Dire Wolves are clearly inspired by the extinct real life Dire Wolf.
I like the way the fantasy is subtly used in it.

Arguably the greatest fantasy show in history...
It seems like House Stark is in serious trouble. I am expecting Daenerys to gain the throne in the end.

I think we can expect some serious consequences even in the very next episode in the Lannister side.

Coherentsheaf, yes the red viper will be great and will definitely appear next season if they continue to follow A Song of Swords plot. And perhaps his Sand Snakes... Life, glad you like the show too. Not sure if you've read the books. I suspect the Starks will still play a critical role in the series. Daenerys is definitely a strong contender for the iron throne, but not the only one. And some characters may still be hidden whose claims to the throne are strong.... From the books' intimations, Westeros will soon be forced to realize that the "game of thrones" is a much smaller game than the "game of extinction" which will soon be unleashed when winter and the white walkers come in full force. Fire v. ice, the question is which characters will be sacrificed in the final battle and who will remain to pick up the remnants?
