Cape Hunting Dog - Lycaon pictus pictus The Cape wild dog (Lycaon pictus pictus), also known as the South African wild dog or the Cape hunting dog, is the nominate subspecies of African wild dog native to Southern Africa. The Cape wild dog is the largest subspecies, weighing 20–25 kg (44–55 lb). It is much more colourful than the East African subspecies, though even within this single subspecies there are geographic variations in coat colour: specimens inhabiting the Cape are characterised by the large amount of orange-yellow fur overlapping the black, the partially yellow backs of the ears, the mostly yellow underparts and a number of whitish hairs on the throat mane. Those in Mozambique are distinguished by the almost equal development of yellow and black on both the upper and underparts of the body, as well as having less white fur than the Cape form. Cape Leopardess - Panthera pardus melanotica The leopard, Panthera pardus, is a member of the Felidae family and the smallest of the four "big cats" in the genus Panthera, the other three being the tiger, lion, and jaguar. Cape Leopards or Panthera pardus melanotica are much smaller than the African Leopard (Panthera pardus) found in the Kruger National Park. These have an average weight of 61kg for males, while their Cape counterparts average just over half that. In the Western Cape, leopards are significantly smaller, females averaging 20 kg, which makes them in many instances smaller than a large male Caracal. Credit to Wikipedia

I think at parity the cape leopardess will win as it has superior weaponary, agility, and strength.

According to the info posted, the cape hunting dog is on avg 20 to 25kg while the cape leopardess is 20kgs. Given their weight dufference is not too far apart, the leopardess gets my vote one on one. A lone wild dog might be able to intimidate the leopardess from time to time for fear its pack might be nearby.

I'd actually give the edge to the canine at parity. They have deadly bites, are excellent at mouth grappling, and would have superior stamina. Add to that a 10-25 percent size advantage, and I favor the Cape hunting dog 65/35

Picture of cape leopardess for size comparison. Thank you for that picture elosha11. Very much appreciated. Anyhow, on my part, here is an African wild dog size chart. Hopefully it helps to give some idea of the African wild dog's size advantage. By the way elosha, who do you favor here?

Not sure yet. I was trying to find a picture of an AWD compared to an actual man (although your above image is helpful), but haven't found one yet.

Some reasons to favor the African wild dog: -It has a 10 to 25 percent size advantage -It has much better stamina and could win out of attrition alone if it played its cards right -It's got a considerable agility advantage, which would help it attack and dodge attack from the leopardess at the same time. -It's got a very deadly bite; in fact, widely considered to be deadlier than that of a wolf at parity -It's excellent at jaw-grappling and would be able to muster a high damage output while controlling its opponent as it did so -African wild dogs can be surprisingly durable by canine standards, and this would likely allow the African wild dog to kill the leopardess before being killed itself
