This paper describes a middle permian (leonardian =~kungurian) suggests Kaibabvenator swiftae to be comparable to extant Carcharodon in body size. The described teeth are also not too different in terms of shape from extant sharks (considering there are more than 270miy since they lived).
It seems long before the rise of "modern" sharks during the Cretaceous, Elasmobranchs already had similar ecology and attained impressive sizes.
