I think we're descended from them, but not part of the ape branch itself

I think we're descended from them, but not part of the ape branch itself it is atacully the oppsite we are apes but we did not evovle from them , we share a comman ancestor with monkeys who share 99% of the same dna with us www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8qQmDU8QsY

do you think this proves humans are apes? we evovled from a ape ancestor and humans and chimpanzees are so close on the evolution branch , so too me this would prove that humans are apes as well , but what do you guys think

Hasn't this already been proven one way or another?

Yes, it did which is why I moved this thread here. While humans probably aren't apes in the common usage of the word "ape", phylogenetically speaking, we are and there is no question about it.
The tree you have shown for example places chimps closer to humans than to gorillas, so if humans aren't apes, gorillas probably aren't either. Most people who say "humans don't descend from apes, we just share a common ancestor" are likely referring to recent apes. They do this to counter the common misconception that evolutionary theory states we descended from chimps. However, the common ancestor between humans and recent apes would be classified as an "ape" if it lived today.

In phylogenetic terms, there is no way "ape" means the same as "chimp". If anything, it means hominoid or maybe hominid. Therefore, we don't just have a common ancestor with apes, we did indeed descend from a creature which would be classified as an "ape" if it was lived today. so basacilly you agree that humans are apes???

Technically it does because it says "common ape ancestor", but the data given is not enough to prove this. The tree you posted further above is better suited if you want to persuade someone:
