red claw crab Red claw crab is also known as Perisesarma bidens, mini crab, Sesarma bidens or sesarma moeschi. These species are often mistaken for freshwater crabs but they feel perfect in brackish water. These species can naturally be found in Asia. They live in a tropical temperature areas with shallow water and a sandy ground.Red Claw Crabs are omnivores that readily accept a variety of foods, including shrimp pellets, fish flakes, brine shrimp, bloodworms, blanched vegetables, and nearly anything else they can get their claws on due to their opportunistic behavior. deathstalker scorpion The deathstalker scorpion is found in the dry desert and scrubland areas of northern Africa and the Middle East, making its home under stones and in natural borrows. It grows 1 to 4 inches (2.5 to 10 centimeters) long and is a yellow-green color, and where the limbs of other scorpion species are thick and stalky, the limbs of the deathstalker scorpion are thin and lanky. The deathstalker can be very aggressive, and its venom is one of the most toxic of any scorpion. Scorpions use their pincers to capture their prey. Those that have strong, powerful pincers have little use for toxins, but those that don’t are armed instead with very powerful venom. The pincers of the deathstalker scorpion may look large, but they’re rather weak, so it has to sting its prey quickly and effectively. The sting from a deathstalker scorpion is extremely painful, but is rarely fatal. People with allergies or heart problems, though, have a higher risk of death.

I'd take the crab here. Don't think scorpion could penetrate its armour.

A sting is useless if it can't penetrate the shell.

A sting is useless if it can't penetrate the shell. he could sting him in his leg It would still need to hit the very precise spot(those legs also covered by a hard shell except on the joints) which would be very unlikely imo since the crab would not stand still and would try to crush the scorpion with its far superior pincers. Also, scorpions don't target legs of their opponents, they go for the body.

What might be some reasons to favor one over the other? If both of you are correct then this is probably a stalemate

Maybe. But unless I see otherwise, I'm inclined to call it a stalemate

I take back what I said about the stalemate. This seems pretty close now, as each has impressive pincers and the scorpion a stinger
