^I don't know if Columbus himself participated in combat (if not, then Wallace wins), but by his time Europeans were equipped with plate armor. Plate armor would have been superior to any armor invented prior, including the maille Wallace would have been equipped with.

but by his time Europeans were equipped with plate armor. He wasn't specified to have armor, so I thought William Wallace would have the edge there

I’m a little confused by this whole scenario, is this about their individual combat abilities (which we don’t know), their historical significance (overrated for both of them) or something else? If, like the above posters, you were to take equipment into account, there would be no real contest. A full coat of late 15th-century plate armour would be almost impervious to any weapon Wallace would have had.

A fight with standard equipment. Also, I’m sure Wallace can deal with plate as his troops were likely armed with some warhammers.

If all else fails, Wallace could also sit on Columbus.

That too? I give Columbus a pity vote.

Well, Sir Wallace was a very tall guy even for his kind.

I'm pretty sure Columbus was no warrior, and if that's the case then the winner is obvious.
I still, however, stand by my view that a professional soldier from Columbus' time period would win. Maybe not that relevant, but yeah.

Maybe not that relevant, but yeah. Professional soldier as in knight? Then yeah. Gottfried "Götz" von Berlichingen would probably be more powerful than both Columbus and Wallace combined.
