i have a little bit of proof to prove that gorillas are omnivores at least western lowland gorillas , for one they eat insects besides gorillas closest relitives are chimps , humans , bonbos and orangutans all of which are omnivores , however i am still not sure if gorillas are omnivores just because they eat insects and insect larvae. what do you guys think?

i would classify it as herbivore as well just not as much of a strict herbivore like say a buffulo.

From my knowledge, insects make up less than 0.1% of a gorilla's diet:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_gorillahttps://www.berggorilla.org/en/gorillas/general/everyday-life/what-do-gorillas-eat/ Not enough to qualify as an omnivore, IMO. i would classify it as herbivore as well just not as much of a strict herbivore like say a buffulo. Well even the strictest of herbivores eat meat (as per the carnivorous herbivores thread) I'd say they're herbivorous overall

Frogs are considered carnivores despite eating mainly insects and giant pandas and spectacled bears are considered omnivores too despite being the most herbivorous of the bears. Therefore, the gorilla should be classified as an omnivore.

Moreover, did you see my point about herbivores being prone to meat eating? The western gorilla is an herbivore

The western gorilla is an herbivore eating insects does not make you a omnivore also insects make a short portion of the gorillas diet , of course gorillas are not as strict as sheeps or buffulos but are still herbivores.

Yes! Any herbivore can eat meat! It's just HOW MUCH they eat, and how often

Any herbivore can eat meat! It's just HOW MUCH they eat, and how often chimpanzees are omnivores because they eat meat more daily than gorillas do infact gorillas are the only apes that are herbivores.

Hippos occasionally eat carcasses probably to lick up salt yet they are classified as herbivores.
