Why are some apes considered to be of "average" intelligence? There's no way I'd consider something like a horse to be "very intelligent" while a gorilla, orangutan, or perhaps just simians in general to be "average" (I know that a quick search suggests horses to be intelligent, but more than a gorilla?). Why are dogs ("very very intelligent") considered to be smarter than elephants ("very intelligent")? Again, I understand dogs are intelligent, but smarter than an elephant? I feel that calling lions and bears "kind of dumb" is unjustified too. I remember Creeper (who used to post on here and Carnivora) saying that cats, like other carnivorans, are particularly smart for animals. Lo and behold, bears (okay, black bears, but still) are indeed quite intelligent ( Vonk & Beran, 2012).

That has nothing to do with intelligence. Also, being a "brute hunter" doesn't necessarily preclude you from being intelligent. It evidently doesn't for bears.

tiermaker.comThat website is probably a more handy tool than all these big images. Anyway, besides what Infinity Blade said, I have a couple of issues, too. Why are humans and pigs considered to be in the same league? Why is this so vertebrate-centric? Why is the order so weird (e.g. VI before VVI instead of vice versa)?
