Your favorite herbivorous animal species extinct and extant.
My favorite extant herbivore is either the African elephant or the Oryx. Both are endangered and beautiful animals with impressive ornamentation. For extinct species probably a tie between the Steppe mammoth or Paraceratherium orgosensis, both were massive animals that dwarfed modern animals, and exceeded 15 metric tons.

When I was small, the red deer was my favorite herbivore (that was before I got into prehistoric animals, it is so long ago, I don't remember why). Today I am unsure, I like the sumatran rhinoceros and tapirus species (that's because I like rainforest animals). As for extinct animals, sauropods became my favorites (thanks to WWD and DR), but I also like ornithopods like Rhabdodon, Dysalotosaurus, Leaelynasaura, but Heterodontosaurus is rapidly becoming one of my favorites as well, maybe because I researched so much about it. P.S. Very nice thread idea.

I like ceratopsids and marginocephalia in general, my favorites would be Pentaceratops and Stenopelix. Furthermore I like Deinotherium, maybe because it's some kind of badass elephant.

I for one am a huge fan of herbivorous dinosaurs, as you can probably tell (such as Apatosaurus, Triceratops, Ankylosaurus, Dacentrurus, etc). Extant......tough, but I'd take the eland due to Ursus panthera's statements

Probably elephants, for their intelligence and emotions on top of dominant physical attributes.

What kind, African bush, Asian, or African forest? They're all surprisingly different

Among the dead, I am quite fond of the ceratopsids. Picking one, Triceratops itself; it's the ceratopsian that coped with the giant theropod (Tyrannosaurus), was colossal (i.e. as big as today's African bush elephant), and its anatomical features (i.e. horn, thickened frill, enormous leg muscles with robust bones, and scales) are just so damn badass. Ankylosaurids (armor, clubs, and power) and giant sauropods (as one person once put it, they really put "go big or go home" to a whole new level) trail behind them.
Among the living, the African bush elephant for sheer size, power, and its eccentric anatomy (so elephants in general are cool). Also the horse, one of our best friends for literally thousands of years, used for all kinds of things.

Same here, herbivorous dinosaurs are my favorites 10/10. Especially Trike, Anky, and the big guys like Mamenchisaurus and Apatosaurus give a whole new meaning to those terms, as you said.
