Very interesting!
I'm having a bit of trouble with the video ATM so this may have been brought up already, but maybe this is to help crack hard nuts or seeds?

The little I could find suggests that it does help with feeding, but not because it's beneficial for cracking hard nuts (if anything hard biters usually have stiff skulls). Nuts are just awkwardly shaped food items, so greater dexterity is needed to get a hold on them in the first place ( link).
