The dire wolves might be able to take down the short-faced bear, as they massively outnumber it, though it's possible some may die in the process of defeating the bear.

My vote goes to the bear, it outweighs them and has enough endurance to fight them. In the natural situation, the wolves wouldn't even bother the bear.

In a fight to the death I would handily give my vote to the wolves - they are very numerous and agile and can use that to exhaust the bear.
