The Bengal tiger can win this one, as its heavier than the Indian lion and much more robust.

dinosauria101 Thanks buddy My view on this matchup. As both of these live in India, and also the past concern of the two meeting each other, I think this one's pretty interesting. As for who will win? In a face to face fight, the tiger will win. but I'm going to explain why. 1. Weight I could not find the average weight of a male Asiatic Lion, only the minimum and maximum weights. But a male asian lion will be anywhere from 160-190 kg which in pounds is 353-419 lbs. An average male bengal tiger in most places will average 221.5 kg=488 lbs. As we can see, the tiger has a pretty good weight advantage here. 2. Height and Length Bengal Tiger: Shoulder height anywhere from 88-114 cm; average 100 cm/ head to body length is 165-221 cm; average 190 cm Asiatic Lion: Shoulder height anywhere from 89-107 cm; average 99 cm/ head to body length is 154-198 cm; average 176 cm 3. Chest Girth Bengal Tiger: 119-160 cm; average 130 cm Asiatic Lion: 107-152 cm; average 124 cm So, the tiger is heavier, a bit taller, longer, and has a bigger chest girth. Typically, the larger cat dominates the smaller cat. 4. Strength Both are pretty similar in height, so why does the tiger weigh more? In this case, there's the smaller gene pool in the lion with the smaller population. But another reason is that one cat either has more muscle or bigger muscle, after all muscle weighs more than fat. If you have more muscle or bigger muscle, then you're stronger. 5. Aggression A very important part of a fight is an animals aggression. Aggression depends on the individual, as some are more aggressive than others. Lions are aggressive fighters, but tigers are also aggressive fighters as well. 6. Mane There's the argument that the mane gives a male lion protection in fights. In this scenario, the mane will not give the lion any protection given the small size of it. Especially the top of the mane where the ears are more visible than those on an African Lion. All in all, in a big death match the tiger will win. In a natural situation, I believe a one on one fight would be really rare. In fact there aren't many recorded fights between the two, and that's likely because they simply lived in different habitats. What many people may not realize is that India not only has jungles, but also grasslands as well. So the tiger ruled the jungle while the lion ruled the grasslands and other drier areas.

Yes, I favor the tiger as well. Larger and maybe more robust.
Hopefully this won't be a carbon copy of African lion vs Bengal tiger

I favor the Bengal tiger too. It is heavier than the Asiatic lion. Male Asiatic lions are less sociable and have less denser manes than their African counterparts.

Hmm. Provided statistcs indicate this lion to be noticeably smaller than its African counterpart.
Tiger most likely.

What makes you say that? Surely the lion won't go down without a fight?

What makes you say that? Surely the lion won't go down without a fight? I never once claimed that the lion would go down without a fight. My point is that it would lose to a Bengal tiger, period.
The tiger literally possesses ALL the physical advantages over the Asiatic lion. There is nothing an Asiatic lion can do or possesses physically that can help it to victory, besides luck.
The Bengal tiger is bigger, stronger, more powerful, more explosive, has larger canines/claws, stronger biteforce, more cunning, far more agile, much faster and quicker in its movements, more ferocious and a far superior killer.
The lion simply has no advantages over the tiger.
And this also refers to the African lion too. The only thing an African lion has going for it is a larger mane, but thats it.
And as I've shown already, pitted fights between the two, repeatedly showed that the tiger is always the winner.

Sorry, what I meant was to address the 'destroy' part. The tiger i think should be favoured 7/10, but it wouldn't DESTROY the lion I'm sure

That has nothing to do with strength - and the sample sizes were just too small and inconclusive. Its called cherry picking.

Not saying that I disagree with you or anything but it was a published source, so I doubt it is cherrypicking
