This thread will include accounts and observations from experts and biologists of the tigers sheer dominance over leopards. And show that leopards deliberately avoid areas frequented by tigers, to avoid decimation.

In yet another incident of a territorial fight within 36 hours, one more leopard was killed by a tiger attack in Chimur Forest Range of Brahmapuri Division on Wednesday. Earlier, another leopard was killed in a tiger attack in the core area of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) in the wee hours of Tuesday. According to information, a forest labourer was patrolling in Compartment No 474 of Chimur Forest Range when he noticed the carcass of a leopard. He immediately intimated the senior officials.”..

Preliminary investigation suggests that that the leopard was about 6 years old. It has deep injuries on the leg and head due to a territorial fight with a tiger.  

Senior officials of Bramhapuri Division Kulraj Singh, Division Forest Officer, Bramhapuri Division, B P Chivande, Range Forest Officer, Uday Patel, Honorary Wildlife Warden, Amod Gaur visited the spot.”

LUCKNOW: The shrinking forest cover has brought even tigers and leopards face to face within protected areas. The law of the jungle maintains that if a leopard trespasses onto a tigers territory then it gets killed. That is what happened on Sunday when a leopard entered into the territory of the tiger and was killed by the latter, in North Kheri forest division. The leopard was an adult and the pug-marks of the tiger around its body confirm that the leopard died while fighting with the tiger.

Leopards are socially subordinate to tigers and generally avoid encounters with the larger cats. The shikar (hunting) literature records several instances of leopards being killed while poaching from tiger kills; on at least two of these occasions the tiger ate the leopard. In February 1988 tigers killed two leopards in Sariska Tiger Preserve, India, and one of these was fed on by a tigress.

Leopards avoid areas inhabited by tigers. When tiger numbers increased during the 1960's and early 1970's, leopard tracks were less often encountered, and then disappeared entirely.

Out of four cases, in two cases, there were definitive evidences of killing by tigers but in rest of two cases, exact identity of attacking species is yet to be established. This aspect of tiger-leopard conflict is to be further studied in details.

whats so significant about this? Larger cats kill smaller cats all the time, caracals kill african wildcat, leopards kill caracal, lions kill leopards, bobcats kill feral cats, cougars kill bobcats, jaguars kill ocelots, and yes, tigers kill leopards

There have been cases in the past where a lion or a tiger have killed a leopard. This happens due to inter-specific competition. Usually a tiger finds it hard to catch a leopard as the latter climbs trees and escape. But once it gets hold of a leopard, the tiger kills it. This is because the leopards are 3-4 times smaller than tigers.  Similar killings have been spotted in Kanha and Ranthambore. 

Once a radio-collared tigress had held a leopard on a tree for an entire night, and the next day the leopard was found dead.

Well the thread is specifically called "Tiger kills and dominates leopards"...so obviously it has to be just about tigers. Other accounts of other cats would be irrelevant.
