There are countless unconfirmed but intriguing reports of supposed giant specimens of well known species, like 7-8m+ great white sharks and saltwater crocodiles, 18m+ whale sharks, 1t+ bears, 300kg+ tigers, 100t+ sperm whales etc.
Bring forth evidence for or against such cases here!

200Lb grey wolves exist.
Before humans set out for extermination of wolves back then they achieved greater sizes. The KP wolf was a good example. They attained large sizes because they were avid moose hunters. However now they are extinc.... the grey wolves that now live there are diluted gene remnants thus they rarely top 130lbs now.

There are in fact 1+ ton bears! Well, one to be exact, the world record polar bear was 1002kg!!!
The supposed 4.2m shoulder African elephant taken in 1972 that weighed ~12 tons.

Those are some really big wolves, and a big difference between normal, large and record-sized (the normal size really isn't that huge, but seeing a really huge one like these is downright mind-boggling). Not sure of the cougars, but they sound rather reliable where they are mentioned.

I used to belive that record polar bear but now I have my doubts, how accurate is that claim? right now we can't reliably weight polar bears much over 600kgs but in the 60s they could? and what happened to the body? they made it a taxydermy mount and then dissapeared? why they didn't give the skeleton to a museum? the skull supposedly got damaged during preparation so they couldn't submit it as a record candidate, are there photos of the skull showing the damage? what if all the claims were all bogus and the bear just wasn't as big as they said it was and they didn't submit the skull because it wasn't a record breaker?
btw none of the record african elephants were measured by scientists, they all were measured by the hunters and their crews (?), only one of them was donated to a museum, the Fenykovi elephant, which was said to be 12 short tons by the hunter but the Smithsonian says it was 8 tonnes.

The 389 kg (857 lb) Tiger was confirmed by the Indian Government Forest Department, although he had stomach content. Here is the official report:

The 389 kg (857 lb) Tiger was confirmed by the Indian Government Forest Department, although he had stomach content. Here is the official report: The skull length reproted here seems to be far too small, as well as the width, to fit the reproted mass of the tiger. These data are inconsistent.

The Tiger had gorged up a Buffalo the night before it was weighed, which might explain it's massive weight compared to only slightly-above average body measurements. Nevertheless, the 388.8 kg weight was definitely confirmed, but the measurements were not.

So it wasn't a giant tiger after all?

There is good evidence to suggest that the 389 kg weight was confirmed, but the measurements are likely off.
Nevertheless, it was a very large Tiger, indeed, but the stomach content from the previously gorged Buffalo likely flattered its weight.

The supposed 4.2m shoulder African elephant taken in 1972 that weighed ~12 tons. I kind of question 12 tons for the largest elephant now. 9 or 10 tons I will buy into but 12?
