The Xenosmilus has greater grappling skills and more robust limbs than other big cats and even the brown bear. The grizzly bear, however, has a shorter backbone (which replaces strength in the place of speed), longer claws (while not as sharp, they dig deeper), and more flexible forearms (better grappling abilities). The grizzly beat takes this slightly at weight parity.

I give my vote to the bear too at parity - more robust, a better grappler, and more durable I would imagine. Though the fight would be very fierce

Xenosmilus was probably extinct before the arrival of the Pleistocene grizzly. But a good fight. I would wager on the bear.

This fight is won by the bear, having a weight advantage and being stronger than Xenosmilus.

American black bears do reside in Florida and is said to have displaced the Florida Spectacled bears. These bears might have come in contact with the Xenosmilus hodsonae.
