The rhinoceros is a much heavier animal than all of the lions together, and with thicker skin and a dangerous horn, there's a good reason lions don't hunt rhinoceros, so the rhino wins.

I'd go with the rhinoceros as well. Much larger, good weaponry for defense, and much better durability. Possibly wins 7/10

I was ninja'd.
This assumes a fully healthy rhinoceros, which isn't exactly what lions hunt and I believe the accounts can underestimate the rhino a lot.

I don't doubt the lions can win. The question is can they do so more often than not?

Lion (coalition of 3/4) vs. White Rhinoceros. By this I assume you mean three or four mature male Lions vs one White Rhinoceros. It is doubtful that the lions will succeed in killing the rhino. But even if they do, at what cost? If it the end, the lions kill the rhino and are left with one dead lion - its a draw. ( 1 dead rhino / one dead lion ). If two or more lions are killed; the rhino wins by score.

^Yeah, that's what that means. If the lions do win, a few would end up dead.

Lions don't hunt rhinos for a good reason. The rhinoceros is just too big and too strong.

Yeah, about on average their largest possible prey animals are hippos and giraffes, usually rhinoceros are not on the menu of lions.

From the second account posted by @thelionboy:
So it can happen, even with two young male lions against a female white rhino, but a knowledgeable guide called it a miracle.

Yeah, about on average their largest possible prey animals are hippos and giraffes, usually rhinoceros are not on the menu of lions. Neither are hippos or giraffes. The latter, they are highly oppurtunistic to prey upon during droughts though.
