The mako shark appears to tie with the tiger shark at maximum weight but is not as powerful as it, I say the tiger shark wins the fight.

The tiger shark is the stronger one but the mako shark is much faster.

I guess this is around 50/50 - similar size and weapons. But each has their advantages- the tiger shark is likely more durable while the mako is faster.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it "no contest" The mako shark can reach sizes similar to the tiger shark, although the tiger shark is larger at max sizes. The mako shark is much faster, and large makos teeth become flatter as they grow to large sizes. Still, at max size, I'd favor the tiger shark. But this is a 6/10 contest, not a mismatch.

I'd still say the tiger shark could win, given its larger head.

Yes I'd agree. The mako would win if it could adapt a fast attack to rip and then get out before the tiger shark could respond But if the tiger shark got in a good bite that could end the mako.

It's easy to forget how big the shortfin mako gets. I posted a pretty substantially sized animal in the animal size thread; i don't think this is a "no contest" but i would lean with the tiger shark more often then not.

I know how large the Mako can get but...jesus. I live in Tiger Shark country. The bodily harm and carnage they can do is horrifying. Put me in water with a big white any day over a big tiger.
