The hyenas together are larger than one Smilodon, and have stronger jaws than it, so the clan wins this fight.

I go with the hyenas too due to agility and strong jaws. Mobbing the sabertooth would help too.

Ah yes, they'd be more agile than the ambush predator, that's another good advantage.
