^I've always wondered how fit an animal would be if it were given a prime diet and actually exercised rigorously like an Olympic athlete. Would we have cheetahs that could run 80 miles per hour, crocodiles that could bite twice as hard as average specimens, or kangaroos that can jump like Mario.

^I am kind of more impressed by the fact that the buffalo was able to keep walking with a bear nearly as big as itself latched onto its side.

Here's the video actually showing the grizzly killing the same bull elk as above. From the YouTube comments of the photographer and others who observed the incident in Yellowstone, the elk had been in a fight with another bull elk broken leg and puncture wounds. You can see it struggling before the bear catches up with it. However once there the bear bites it fairly severely on the back and then begins to roll it. either the elk drowned, (and very quickly too in practically 30 seconds), or it had lost consciousness from its previous injuries and the bears attack's beforehand, and it was already dead or dying before it started to get rolled around in the water. Obviously an impressive predation, with some caveats to explain the relative ease it had in killing the elk. Here's a second video of two bears feeding on what remains of the elk carcass several days later. |
