A recent emissions report finds that with current policies in place, global temperatures are set to increase by 2.8 oC by the end of this century. Implementation of current pledges will only curb temperatures by a slight amount, with increases of 2.4-2.6 oC projected if these pledges pan out. Also, “ The report finds that only an urgent system-wide transformation can deliver the enormous cuts needed to limit greenhouse gas emissions by 2030: 45 per cent compared with projections based on policies currently in place to get on track to 1.5°C and 30 per cent for 2°C.” www.unep.org/resources/emissions-gap-report-2022

Yeah I am pretty pestismistic. Besides the depressing fact that a lot of outright deniers exist, many people that are aware it's a problem refuse to acknowledge that the average Joe also is a contributor.
Ask them to reduce the amount of flights/cruises? No.
Live in apartments instead of single family homes? If they can afford a house they are going to get one.
Change diet? Vehment no.

Welp, and I hoped the temporary CO2 cut during the lockdown would create some momentum (to be fair, it had been predicted that it wouldn't last). But I'm honestly not surprised. Don't Look Up already showed quite well how a mixture of denialism, selfishness, and nihilism has all but doomed us. Let's just hope we can dodge those dreaded climate tipping points somehow.
