I bought the companion book at a university bookstore today. Gonna check it out once I get home.
EDIT: Also I love that this thread got to 7 pages before the documentary even came out.

You're welcome. This was a group effort, you! And I'll shamelessly be taking 110% of the credit as the thread starter. In all seriousness, I think it goes to show how excited we all are/how much we have to say for LOOP. Not even my popular WWM review and seriously-disagreed-with-by-just-about-everyone-reviews for PP added this many pages to their threads, so this is a real gem indeed. And no matter what the format is, it will remain a gem in my mind . As excited for PP's seasons as I was on Discord, and as excited for FB as we were, both of those pale in comparison to an 8 hour documentary about the beginning of life to today.

FB?
But as always, just keep expectations moderated.
The twitter negativity seems to have died down a bit.
EDIT: I jinxed it.

Forgotten Bloodlines=FB. I guess that acronym is not particularly well known, you are not the only member who asked about it.

YOU LITTLE– I agree, we all definitely got a lot on our minds regarding this doc. From what I've skimmed through in the companion book's text, there's already stuff I have words for.

Whether it's October 25, or later....mark my words, I will get my hands on a copy of the book long enough to at least read it. And - I won't lie - it's really hilarious to read the Twitter toxicity about LOOP. It actually helps make the documentary more entertaining because I know I will be enjoying it more than 80% of palaeo-Twitter.

We have different personalities then, I'm tired of that. I can understand that if you're a part of the often toxic community that is palaeo-Twitter. Probably the fact that I made the choice to never really get involved to begin with is the reason for our different outlooks on it. In all seriousness, though, on second thought, I do agree with you about being tired of one thing. There's at least 1 tweet I've seen that said the T. rex was ugly as sin and inaccurate....which even I'm raising my eyebrows at because it appears to be very similar to the PP T. rex in everything but color design, and therefore such a statement just comes across as particularly arrogant. Is there to anyone's knowledge actual justification for that? Or are they just being as arrogant as they came across to me as?

New clip. They show us some brontothere footage and some further footage of existing animals together with already shown footage....I like those brontotheres almost as much as WWB's. www.reddit.com/r/Dinosaurs/comments/1794cnl/life_on_our_planet_new_tv_spot/Exalt, I found confirmation of the 25-30% VFX thing that you mentioned but I could not find. This comment makes a good point: I do think the article could be wrong given how wrong the Prehistoric Planet season 3 articles were. On the other hand, so does this one. This would be a disappointment even independently from any expectations of LOOP being like the Trilogy of Life 2.0: I am simply not that big on the talking head-majority documentaries. I reallllllly hope those trailers aren't clickbait.

Well, it's funny that only know we get our first glance at EP7 content. I personally would love Paleocene or Miocene segments, given how underused they are, but it seems like we'll get the same WWB treatment all over again.

I was expecting Paleocene, Miocene, etc, segments to be at least a few parts of episode 7 tbh - given the hour long runtime and the probable time jumps it seems like they'd fit in pretty good. What we get might not even get to the level of the full WWB treatment if it really is 25-30% VFX. That is 15-18 minutes an episode, and it seems very unlikely they could fit more than 3 time periods in a 15-18 minute span because not even Planet Earth/Prehistoric Planet go shorter than 5 minutes or so. This makes me hope even more that the article is dead wrong. If it's right we are probably not getting much more than what is shown in the trailer (like the comment warned), which would of course lead to not even reaching the level of WWB.

While I am very much down for a really good, modern pleistocene take, it'd be weird to skip those two epochs again.
However, both Phorusrhacos and Theosodon are Miocene species.
Granted, wwb put one of those two in the pleistocene...

The localized hair running down the back, throat, and legs(?) is an intriguing choice, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it from the perspective of plausibility. If I were the one designing it I would have probably just done the usual hairless grey look brontotheres are given, but this is a pretty good change of pace. I think it's probably my favorite model we've seen so far.
